Old Courthouse hosts “Raven and Red”
Friday, September 18, 2015
7:00 p.m. in the old Courthouse

Come early, seating limited to 200.

“Raven and Red”, the energetic and enthusiastic quasi-bluegrass band, will be returning to The Old Courthouse on the Square in Blairsville at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18.  Since their appearance the the Union County Historical Society’s Harvest Festival a couple of years ago, they  have taken the area by storm.  They are extremely popular at a variety of venues throughout the Southeast.

Both graduates of the School of Music at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Mitchell Lane and Brittany Jones are well versed in classical repertoire and enjoy combining these techniques in their recordings and live performances.  Their individual musical accomplishments provide the inspiration to creatively arrange outstanding lead and harmony vocals with lyrical instrumental melodies.  They strive to reach audiences through their original approach to acoustic music.  In 2014, Raven and Red released their first 5-track EP,
Live In The Studio, featuring a handpicked selection of the most popular songs performed at their shows.  The duo has performed concerts at various festivals, venues, and events throughout the U.S., including opening shows for country superstar, Connie Smith, and the Grammy Award nominated bluegrass group, Dailey & Vincent.  They are very excited to include Mitchell’s little brother, Cole King, as a band member on mandolin and vocals.  In addition to their current repertoire, Raven and Red has expanded into the Celtic music genre with recordings and live performances at several top festivals showcasing Scottish and Irish music.  See many pictures and learn more about Raven and Red at their website:

There is never an admission charge to the concerts presented by The Union County Historical Society in The Old Courthouse on the Square.  The musicians donate their time and talents.  Voluntary donations to the maintenance fund are always welcomed and appreciated.
