Restored 1906 Butt-Mock Home
2006
is
100th Anniversary for the Butt-Mock
Home
The 1906 Butt Mock house
stands on the 1.8-acre site Union County Heritage Center in
downtown Blairsville, conveniently located just a block south of
the Old Courthouse. Donated to the Historical Society in 1994, the
house has now been restored. The expansive lawn is the location for
the Mountain Marketplace, a heritage event that celebrates the
history, lifeways, and folk traditions of this mountain community.
From the seeds of these seasonal events, the Historical Society
anticipates that a heritage center will be established on this
historic in-town property, which already contains the 1906 house
and an 1861 log cabin. Other historic structures, hands-on exhibits
on domestic life, and living history activities would be included
at the proposed heritage center.
