On the grounds of Woody Gap School

Each fall during the first full weekend in October, the Woody Gap Sports Club, the Suches Community, and Woody Gap School hold the Indian Summer Festival. The festival includes arts and crafts featuring antiques, pottery, leather crafts, needlework, local produce, jewelry, folk art, handcrafted furniture, and homemade goodies.

Food concessions are plentiful. Various musical groups provide ongoing entertainment. Other activities include The Run Above the Clouds, Country Square Dance, The Athletic Auction, Cherokee Drama, and the delicious desserts made by the Gaddistown Homemakers. All profits from the festival are donated to the school to provide assistance for educational and athletic expenses and to provide scholarships for graduating seniors.

Elementary students perform a play each year at the festival.
